Adolescent Parenting Program

The Adolescent Parenting Program (APP) involves a partnership between the PEERS Family Development Center, the Onslow County Department of Social Services and the Onslow County Partnership for Children making an effort to initiate early intervention strategies with adolescent parents.  The core of the program is intensive family centered services aimed at preventing further pregnancies, improving skills, building confidence and preparing for employment. APP participants are adolescent parents 19 years of age and younger regardless of race or religion.

APP Goals

Eligibility Criteria
The APP Program Focuses on
Remaining in school until graduation
Preventing subsequent adolescent pregnancies
Improving parenting skills
Locating and using community resources
Stabilizing family support systems
Strengthening employability skills and efforts to become economically self-sufficient
19 years of age or younger
Pregnant or parenting but willing to postpone another pregnancy
Presently enrolled in school (middle school, high school, GED program, etc.) or wants to return to school or obtain their GED
